- Accumulator
- An accumulator is a parlay where winnings from each winning selection are placed on the next, increasing potential payout.
- Asian Handicap
- Asian handicap gives one team a fractional goal advantage or disadvantage to remove the draw option and create two possible outcomes.
- Back
- To back a selection means to bet that a particular outcome will happen, such as a team winning.
- Bankroll
- Your bankroll is the total money you have set aside for betting, separate from everyday finances.
- Bet slip
- A bet slip is a record showing the selections you intend to bet on, the odds, and the total stake.
- Bookmaker
- A bookmaker is a company that sets odds and accepts bets on sports events, acting as the counterparty to your wager.
- Cash out
- Cash out allows you to settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or limiting a loss based on current odds.
- Double chance
- Double chance lets you cover two of the three possible outcomes (home win/draw, away win/draw, or either team winning) in one bet.
- Draw no bet
- Draw no bet removes the draw outcome; you win if your chosen team wins, and get your stake back if the match ends in a draw.
- In-play betting
- In-play betting lets you place bets on a match after it has started, with odds that update as the game unfolds.
- Juice
- Juice, also called vig, is the commission the bookmaker charges built into the odds, usually around 5% of the bet.
- Lay
- To lay a selection means to bet against that outcome, essentially acting as the bookmaker on a betting exchange.
- Market
- A market is a category of bets offered for an event, like match result, total goals, or player props.
- Moneyline
- A moneyline bet is a simple wager on which team will win a match, with odds that show how much you profit per $100 wagered.
- Odds
- Odds represent the payout you receive for a winning bet, and also reflect how likely a particular outcome is thought to be.
- Over/Under
- An over/under bet asks whether the total goals or points scored will be higher (over) or lower (under) than a set number.
- Parlay
- A parlay combines multiple selections into a single bet; all selections must win for the bet to pay out.
- Push
- A push happens when a bet ends in a tie against the spread, resulting in the stake being refunded.
- Settlement
- Settlement is the process of finalizing a bet after the event ends, determining whether you won or lost.
- Single bet
- A single bet is a straightforward wager on one outcome, with the profit determined by the odds and stake.
- Spread
- A spread (point spread) assigns a handicap to the underdog so both teams have an equal chance, indicated by a plus or minus number.
- Stake
- The stake is the amount of money you risk on a bet; your potential winnings are calculated from this amount.
- Unit
- A unit is a standardized stake size, often a small percentage of your bankroll, used to manage risk consistently.
- Value bet
- A value bet occurs when the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving you a positive expected return.
- Void bet
- A void bet is a cancelled wager where all money is returned, often because a match was postponed.
